SATURDAY 3-2 +11.00 UNITS
Here are todays selections:
10 Units So Mississippi -6 -107
Conference USA meets the Sun Belt!!! This is a tough spot for the New Orleans Privateers (6-5 SU, 4-4 ATS) as they are not a strong offensive club, averaging 65 ppg while shooting a poor 40% from the field. New Orleans is just 2-5 SU on the road (though 4-3 ATS) where the defense has been awful, allowing 76 points per game!!! This is a weakness that Southern Miss (6-4) will exploit. Southern Miss shoots 46% from the field and they have yet to cover the spread this season (0-5 ATS). However, all their losses have been on the road and they are 6-0 at home where they outscore foes by an 80-66 average. They are off a tough 78-60 loss at Auburn and would like nothing better than to come home in front of the home fans and shut down a smaller New Orleans team. New Orleans is even a lousy free throw shooting team (65%) and this will be the third straight road game for New Orleans, making it a bad spot!!!
5 Units Oregon State +9.5 -106
Oregon State (6-5 SU, 3-3 ATS) is not a big, physical team. They like to run led by 6'-7" junior Dave Lucas (15 ppg, 6 rpg) and 6'-1" sophomore Chris Stephens (15 ppg). Oregon State had a tough 70-67 OT loss at Hawaii, and lost at home to Boise, 82-80, as a favorite. Oregon State is 0-3 SU on the road, though 2-1 ATS. USC (5-5) doesn't play much defense, but they have two strong offensive players in 6-5 senior Desmon Farmer (18 ppg) and 6-8 junior Jeff McMillan (13 ppg, 9 rpg), though they are 3-3 SU & 0-5 ATS at home where they defense allows 82.5 ppg!!! USC lost on Friday on this court 92-74 to Oregon!!! Oregon State won 83-74 on this court a year ago.
5 Units California -12 -105
Don't look for much scoring in this Pac 10 battle -- both teams love to slow the pace down. Washington State (6-5) has little offense, shooting 39% from the field and averaging just 56 ppg. They have one big gun in 6'-6" senior Marcus Moore (14 ppg, 4 assists pg). The Cougars have played an easy schedule and have lost at home to Rice (scoring 49 points). They also lost 49-44 at home to Air Force and lost at Fresno, 46-29!!! Yes, they really like to slow things down!!! On Friday they got smashed 73-51 at Stanford. Cal plays terrific defense, allowing 59 ppg, so Washington State won't score much. Cal has freshmen 6'-8" Leon Powe (averaging 15 ppg and 9 rpg) and senior All-America 6'-11", 260-lb Amit Tamir up front. Cal (5-5) has a big frontcourt edge and remember that Washington State is allowing opponents to shoot 46%!!! Cal's frontcourt may have a field day in this low scoring clash (Cal allows 57 ppg at home). Cal won both meetings a year ago, 76-63 and 63-53.
